Barcelona vs Manchester United

Wembley is the venue for the clash of the Titans tonight, United have proved they are the best in England while, Barcelona have once again been crowned champions of Spain. Tonight we will see two teams of great heritage and skill square off against each other with both each looking for their fourth Champions league win, it will surely prove to be a battle we won’t forget too soon.

I do hate Man United but they have showed their metal this year and proved they deserve to be where they are. Tonight though, they go up against a Barcelona side that are regarded as the best side of their generation and if you have just watched one of their games you can see why.

The battle will be fought on three fronts, defence, midfield, attack. Barcelona has a solid back four, but have been known to be frail in the air. Puyol and Pique are a great centre pairing and have shown their strength this season. United too have Vidic and Rio at the back, who are in my opinion, better than their Barcelona counter parts. Bothe will have their work cut out for them as Rooney and Hernandez are in fine form and have caused defences problems all season. Messi, Villa, Pedro, what to say here probably the best attack in the world even if you just had the magician Messi up front, the United defence are going to have to be on the top of their game if they are going to stop Messi and his and his two attacking partners. The Midfield is where the game is going to be won and lost, and for me it is clear to see that Barcelona’s midfield is streets ahead of United’s. Xavi and Iniesta vs Carrick/Fletcher and Park, there really is no comparison. With Busquets holding at the back allowing the two Spaniards to play with freedom, this is where Barcelona have the edge or should I say Mile.

Likely Line-Ups:

Barcelona (4-3-3): Victor Valdes, Carlos Puyol, Gerard Pique, Dani Alves, Adriano Corr, Sergio Busquets, Xavi, Andreas Iniesta, Pedro, David Villa, Lionel Messi.

Manchester United (4-4-1-1): Edwin van der Sar, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Fabio, Patrice Evra, Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick, Park Ji-Sung, Antonio Valencia; Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez.

Football 101 Prediction:

Barcelona 2-1 Manchester United, Barcelona are just a cut above the rest, where United have proved this season they are the best in England Barcelona have proved they are the best in the World. Tonight I am sure they will show it again, Messi is a factor in himself, he is simply amazing, no player has shown his all-round ability since Pele. If he turns on the juice, which he always does Barcelona have this in the bag.
